Dynamic Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)

When it comes to cloud solutions, what type of pricing should you expect? How will your consumption be determined? Can you easily identify how much you’ll be spending? These are typical questions asked before committing to a relationship with a cloud provider. What’s needed is a predictable, transparent pricing model to help you assess cost.

At Virtustream, we offer a unique capacity-based consumption model whereby computing power is sold as µVMs.

Most cloud providers size Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) requirements by virtual machine (VM), which is driven by application peak loads, leading to an average 30% excess capacity. Virtustream takes a more cost-effective approach. It maximizes efficiency by sizing, pricing, and “SLAing” IaaS requirements by the most granular capacity infrastructure measurement possible. We call it a ” Micro-VM (µVM)”. To size our µVM, we have normalized 10 years of client virtualization statistics across a broad range of applications to define an optimal CPU/Memory work unit.

µVMs and data services are billed monthly, and optional managed services can be purchased for specific workloads as necessary.

Virtustream is the only IaaS provider capable of provisioning compute resources based on aggregate workloads, thus providing the only true consumption based offering on the market today.

If you are new to virtualization and cloud computing and need to make a business case for these solutions, our xStream Advisor - an integrated suite of software tools and professional services that provide comprehensive analysis and reporting - can deliver the TCO and ROI metrics needed to support your critical decisions.
